Janet Museveni fails to convince Universities’ non-teaching staff to call off strike

A meeting called by Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni and her counterpart of finance and planning Matia Kasaija hit a deadlock after they failed to convince non-teaching staff from public universities to call off their strike.
According to government, there is no money to pay 56 billion shillings demanded by the public servants to enhance their salaries. This includes 28 billion shillings to raise their pay and 28 billion shillings of salary arrears promised by President Yoweri Museveni last year.
